Former Cowboys quarterback Will Grier reportedly signs with a Super Bowl contender.

Will Grier, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys, has found a new home with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Less than 24 hours after officially releasing Grier, the Cowboys announce that they had acquired quarterback Trey Lance.

According to a tweet posted by ESPN's Adam Schefter on August 30, 2023, former Cowboys quarterback Will Grier,

who threw for 305 yards and ran for 45 more in his final game with Dallas, has signed with the Bengals' practice squad.

Grier finds it alluring since he will get a shot to battle Jake Browning for the position as Joe Burrow's backup quarterback with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Since Cincinnati's best quarterback is currently sidelined with a calf injury, having a strong backup is crucial.

This effectively ends any hope of Grier returning to the Cowboys on a practice squad contract. Dallas has shown interest in re-signing Grier,

but the veteran quarterback has more to gain by signing with the Bengals as their fourth quarterback.
