As Disney feuded with DeSantis, firefighters supported him. His new board cut their park benefits despite their protests.

Firefighters from Disney World once backed DeSantis' proposal to take over the Reedy Creek Improvement District. 

That is, until his new board denied them discounts and free park admission. 

Several firefighters approached the DeSantis board about this last week during a meeting. 

First responders from Disney World once supported Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' proposal to take over the Reedy Creek Improvement District,

which had previously had independent jurisdiction over the territory that Disney occupied. 

Tim Stromsnes, the union's director of communications for Reedy Creek Professional Firefighters Local 2117, 

told the Orlando Sentinel in January that "anything has to be better than what we currently have."
