Insiders Guide to The Garnet

Good Things To Know

We are known for our home-made LEMON CURD. We make it every week. It contains only egg yolks, sugar, lemon juice, and butter (no cornstarch… this is the real deal).

Yes, we do sell it. It’s expensive to make, so it’s not cheap.

Small (2oz ramekin) .$50 (this is what we serve at the table gratis, but

you can get extra to take with you)

Large (8oz jar) $10.00/(8oz cardboard) $8.00

The lemon curd is amaze-balls on its own, but it’s made to go with raspberry jam.

Also try lemon curd on a side of fruit. Along those lines, ask for an extra to go with your Berry Stuffed French Toast.

If you can tear yourself away from the lemon curd once in a while, we’re also big fans of our house herbed goat cheese with raspberry jam. A little more savory, but every bit as good. There was about a year there where the servers ate zero lemon curd in favor of this combination.

LOVE AVOCADO TOAST?

We have it on the menu now, and it's really good.

Some of us have been tip-toeing through the menu for years, and we’ve discovered some

AMAZING MODIFICATIONS

• Bonner omelet with duck confit added. Pricey, but worth every penny.

• Beans with pesto and/or sausage. Or bacon. If it’s good for the spaghetti,

how can it be bad for the beans?

• Beans with a side of veggies to stir in.

• Steak with mushrooms in addition to or instead of the bleu cheese.

Also don’t forget that YOU CAN GET GREEN EGGS WITH ANYTHING.

You probably should try it at least once.

You can get pesto in your omelet shell. Or even better, order a stir fry with green over medium eggs on top!

The Stir-fry is on the menu because one of the servers firmly believes that scrambled eggs are the styrofoam of food. Thus the kitchen started making her omelets in a different form. It crossed the line to our regulars, and the rest is history.

WE HAVE WINE. Usually one red and one white, depending on our drink specials.

Put apple cider vinegar on hash or sautéed veggies.

A woman once ordered hash with a side of vinegar. We all thought she was nuts, and probably not worthy of our excellent hash. Then we tried it. All we can say is that the world of The Garnet was a little different after that day.

Order a side of hollandaise to pour over your breakfast burrito. Or your omelet. Trust the process… JUST DO IT.

WE HAVE LUNCH from 11 to 2. Do you get a lunch break? Come have a salad and a glass of wine, or a beer and a sandwich. We won’t tell anyone. But you might, because it will be good stuff.

We make our biscuits from scratch. We make our gravy from scratch. GET A SIDE OF BISCUITS & GRAVY. If you don’t have a treat once in a while, what’s the point?

Yes, We Have Vegan/Vegetarian Options

First of all, let us know if you're vegan or following a plant-based diet. So we can help. One or two of us are too. There is a section in the menu, which includes some yummy items, such as No-dairy beans, NW potatoes, Sautéed veggies, Shakshuka Chickpeas, Felafel, Tofu, and more.

According to our research, our pancakes are accidentally vegan.

Sourdough, English muffins, and wheat toast are also vegan. You can get vegan butter to go with those too. Order your toast dry and let your server know.

NOOCH

We have nutritional yeast. Just ask your server.

Keto, Paleo, Gluten-free and more

We can accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences of most kinds.

Please let your server know if you have questions. We can help.
